grote_smurf Joris "Alfschijn" van Gelre is a great musician and composer and with his project (or must I say band?!) Bezwering does he mix clean vocals (like in Heidevolk, one of his former bands) with black metal screams. The changings of speed and ambiance and the blastbeats combined with the slow passages makes this album a real pleasure to listen to. Favorite track: Nagezeten.

David Fischer Being German, I always claimed that the Dutch language is kind of a meme. I now confess that I have been wrong. Albeit the instrumentation here is great overall, what really makes this album shine are the vocals. There are lots of clean (tenor?) vocals on this album, which are among the most metal things I have heard in my entire musical career. Additionally, the lyrics are in Dutch - which is really the icing on the cake here. This language works exceptionally well with rocky BM. Rocksolid! Favorite track: Geen bloemen op mijn graf.

Funeral Fog Black metal with insanely good bass playing, & a punch to your damn rib cage. Crisp production, nice & rich texture as well. And damn once again, that bass...

pikeman_1798 This is sublime, my favourite release of 2020. Indeed it’s one of the best releases I’ve heard in years, and I keep being pulled back to it.

It has it all really, be it slow, mid-tempo or fast. Atmosphere throughout, soaring or plummeting the depths and the vocal variety is catchy as hell.

It’s still hitting the spot after repeated listens. My only regret is not having just bought a phyiscal release instead of buying digital.
Update March 2022: I purchased the LP, it’s on the way! Favorite track: Geen bloemen op mijn graf.
Ippocalyptica

Ippocalyptica The Eldritch terrors with whom I commune tell me that this Bezwering album is representative of the modern Dutch black metal scene, with a healthy dose of Wiegedood for good measure, a splash of oddball clean vocals here and there, and audible bass that slaps hard. The songs are also highly dynamic and varied, though the first three songs (which happen to be my favourites) feature the common pattern of starting at low or medium tempos and climaxing into fast, aggressive finales. Solid stuff! Favorite track: Rouwstoet.

about

BEZWERING from Gelderland, the Netherlands, is an entity risen from the tomb containing the remains of Wederganger. Continuing in the vein of its illustrious predecessor, BEZWERING forges Undeath Metal marked by rabid aggression and utter despair since 2018.

Following the 2019 demo heralding the first album with two of its songs, the 2020 full-length “Aan de wormen overgeleverd” (“Handed over to the worms”) catapults nine undead cadavers into the world of the living.

Tracklist:

1. Vredeloos
2. Nagezeten
3. Rouwstoet
4. Uitgeteerd
5. Aan gene zijde
6. Terror terroris
7. Geen bloemen op mijn graf
8. Het tweede gezicht
9. Waanzinskolk
